LAHORE:

Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhary has transferred the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) land scam case against PML-Q MPA Moonis Elahi and other offenders to the district and sessions judge, Lahore, Muhammad Mujahid Mustaqeem.

The chief justice LHC directed the federal government to confer powers of a judge of a banking offences’ special court on the sessions judge to enable him to take up the case. On July 5, the judge of a special court for banking offences, Malik Abdul Rasheed refused to hear the NICL case following a heated debate with Elahi’s counsels. He observed that the lawyers tried to influence the court and referred the case to the registrar of the LHC.
