Senior police official martyred in Peshawar gun attack

CTD DSP's guard and driver in critical condition, police initiates investigation

PESHAWAR: A senior police official serving in Khyber-Pakhtunkwa's Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) was martyred in a gun attack on Thursday in Peshawar.

Acting DSP CTD Ghani Khan was travelling along with his driver and a guard when unidentified gunmen opened fire on his vehicle.

The police officer's driver and guard were also critically injured in the attack.



A heavy contingent of police reached the site of the incident and launched a search operation to find the suspects.

Reportedly, there was an on-going dispute between Ghani’s family members over property assets and members of his family were also earlier injured in a firing incident.

Police said that they are carrying out an investigation, however, it is too early to say whether this is an act of vengeance by family members or a terrorist attack.
