Kamran’s Baradari to get facelift

Government mulls constructing land route to promote tourism

LAHORE: The Punjab Tourism Department is mulling over various aspects of reconstructing Kamran’s Baradari, located by the River Ravi, to promote tourism.

The beautiful Mughal era monument is in a poor state. It is right in the centre of the River Ravi and used to be a picnic point earlier, but now it is in shambles.

Tourism Consultant Asif Mehmood approached the Department of Archeology and other departments for their technical opinions to renovate this grand resort. To this end, a survey was also carried out.

Lahore Commissioner Mohammad Asif Bilal Lodhi said that since 1988, the water level of River Ravi has not risen and tourists from all over the world, including residents of Lahore, visit Kamran’s Baradari. Therefore, it has been decided that on the River Ravi, where visitors go by boat to Kamran’s Baradari, a facility must be provided so that they can reach the destination by land as well.

Lodhi added that the renovation work of the Baradari would also start soon and services of renowned archaeologists would be acquired for the project. With the monument’s restoration, the number of visitors would increase substantially, he hoped.
