"The US government continues to monitor the situation, including the safety and security of our citizens," the statement said after three bomb blasts killed at least 20 people in Mumbai.
The blasts were the biggest attack on India's financial capital since the 2008 assaults blamed on Pakistan-based militants.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said she would continue with plans to visit India next week for a regular round of high-level talks and extended her own condolences tothe Indian government and people.
"I believe it is more important then ever that we stand with India, dig deep in our partnership and reaffirm our commitment to the shared struggle against terrorism," Clinton said in an appearance with Russia's visiting foreign minister.

Ah, and really how is USA planning to help India ? Finding a terrorist from 1.2 billion population with a security and intelligence infrastructure so broken is next to impossible. And I bet Obama will only offer the 10 billion worth F-16s to fight terrorism in India :) . Fighting terrorism is finding mindset and cannot be won by weapons and over kill of public liberty like we face in USA these days. Increasing security, tapping phones, snatching liberty from people in name of protecting them is basically going back to old ages when we were ruled by kings and cannot challenge their motives or we would be punished in name of treason or sedition in name of "citizen's safety". Terrorism can be eliminated if people are properly educated and given right view of what matters them most, apparently it seems to be religion for under privileged society like most of our non western countries. Sympathizers of terrorists are equally at guilt as terrorist him / herself . Any act of violence directly or in directly supported by means of military or non state actors has to be opposed and brought to books and only then the society will become safe and civilized and we would not need too much of governance to tel us whom should we be afraid of and whom we should treat friendly. The act of choosing friends and enemies should not be under an influence of prejudices and lies but by facts and rational thinking and without any sense of insecurity. Then and only then we will realize and find more friends around us. We can always avoid people like Mr. President here whose purpose of support comes with the price and that price has often been very very hefty.

correction meant he feels no remorse..... its easy to turn around and say we condemn so and so.. theyr just words.. and thats all he has.. for someone who cant see the double standards in place for turning a blind eye towards treatment of palestinians while condemning other such attacks i think the question is do u know what a catch 22 situation is?
obamas entire campaign was based on hope... no commitment just hope.. hope for the best.. hope for peace.. and he delivered nothing....hes following in the exact same footsteaps as those before him.. condemning such blasts (which he should) and turning a blind eye towards the treatment of palestinians.. funding israeil despite the fact that israeil has continued building new settlements inspite of US reservations (and yeah they held back our aid cuz we decided not to follow their instructions to the dot) ...and lets not forget initiating three wars in a decades time which has now lead them to killing millitants in pakistan.. which is all fine with me except when innocent lives are lost in the process with zero acknowledgement or remorse.. so yeah when a man like that condemns such attacks u really wonder where the sincerity in all this is....

the indian bombings should be condemned.. but i dont recall u condemning the done attacks in pakistan which have resulted in innocent lives being lost.. and palestinians being tortured by israeilis???
