LAHORE:
The government has refused to hand over the administration of Wazir Khan Mosque and the tomb of Anarkali to the Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA).

The administration of the two sites will remain under the services and general administration department. However, the WCLA will be able to take important delegations on a tour of the sites.

Reportedly, the WCLA requested the Punjab government to hand over the administration of Wazir Khan Mosque and the tomb of Anarkali. The authority had claimed that they would be more suited to care for the needs of the ancient structures.

However, the government maintained that the administration of Wazir Khan Mosque has lied with the public libraries department since 1882. Meanwhile, the central control room of the archives department has been set up at Anarkali’s tomb since 1892.
