Forty-five cases have been registered in Pirabad police station against unidentified men for their alleged involvement in the recent violence in Orangi Town.
Out of the cases, 13 are for murder, four are for vandalism, and two are against specific alleged offenders. Another 28 cases have been registered by people who were shot and injured.
The wave of violence, which began on July 5 and continued for four days, resulted in the loss of nearly one hundred lives in Katti Pahari, Qasba Colony, Shehzad Morr, Lyari and other areas.
Cases for the murders of Jamil Akhtar, Mohammad Sohail, five-year-old Laiba, Umar Farooq, Sohail Nathaniel, Saifullah, Mohammad Arif from Qasba, Zohaib Ali, Mohammad Yousuf and Sharafat from Islamia Colony, and Dilawar Khan and Mohammad Akhtar from Muslimabad, and for an unidentified victim whose body was found near Katti Pahari, were registered.
Additionally, two cases for vandalism and arson have been registred by Hikmat Khan and Amir Khan in Qasba. Liaqat Ali Ahmed and Syed Jamshed, also Qasba residents, have registered a case against unknown assailants for burning down their houses. Zakira, who was injured by gunfire, near Shaheen Hotel in Qasba Colony registered a case against Rafi and Amir, alias Ganja and Dabba. While, Jehangir Khan from Muslimabad, registered a case against Kashif, alias Boota for shooting him.
Gang war suspects remanded
Two alleged members of a Lyari gang were placed in physical remand for two days. They were handed over to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Wednesday. The suspects, Sohail Abro and Sirajuddin alias Zubair Lakho, were presented before South Judicial Magistrate, Nadeem Badar Qazi, on charges of police encounters, attempted murder and possession of weapons. They were arrested by the CID police from Khadda Market, Lyari, on Tuesday, July 12. The police recovered four Kalashnikovs, two shotguns, one seven millimetre weapon, and eight kilogrammes of hashish from them.
