52 POs among 205 arrested in Sargodha

The police recovered over 356 kilogrammes of narcotics, 124 weapons during the month of October 2019

SARGODHA: Sargodha police claimed to have arrested a total of 205 accused, including 52 proclaimed offenders and recovered over 356 kilogrammes of narcotics and 124 weapons during the month of October 2019.

A police spokesperson said on Friday that police teams during an operation against drug pushers had arrested a total 39 drug pushers and recovered over 356 kilogrammes of hashish and 712 bottles of liquor. During operations against proclaimed offenders (POs), police arrested 52 such criminals who were involved in 12 murders, six robberies, 28 theft cases and other heinous cases.

Drug peddling continues despite crackdowns

Similarly, during a drive against criminals and exhibition of legal and illegal weapons, police teams have arrested 124 accused and recovered 201 weapons including 83 Kalashnikovs, 13 rifles, 14 handguns, 88 pistols and three revolvers with hundreds of cartridges and bullets.

During search operations against suspects, the DSPs of all Police Circles have conducted over 70 search operations and snap checking through a biometric system at shops, plazas, hostels and hotels and arrested 10 suspected people.

Police also claimed to have recovered illegal arm, ammunitions and valuables from the possession of the suspects. Separates cases have been registered against the accused in respective police stations of the city.
