LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday reserved its verdict on Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz’s application to grant her bail in the Chaudhary Sugar Mills (CSM) case.

The decision on Maryam Nawaz’s bail was reserved by Justice Ali Baqir Najfi.

In her bail plea, Maryam has sought ad-interim post arrest bail, contending that her family was implicated in a fake money laundering case and now they are being victimized.

Maryam was arrested by NAB in August and has been in custody of the accountability watchdog, which accused her of corruption and corrupt practices as defined under section 9(a) of NAO 1999 and schedule thereto and AML Act 2010.

Maryam not a beneficiary of Chaudhary Sugar Mills, court told

NAB claimed that she aided and abetted co-accused persons –former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and others – in acquiring and laundering funds, which, it alleged, were disproportionate to the known sources of income of Nawaz.  It accused Maryam of being a beneficiary of the assets.

On Wednesday, Maryam’s counsel Amjad Pervez contended that the accused had not been a beneficiary of the CSM nor she had actively served as its director and chief executive officer (CEO).

He said she had ever done any material work while serving at the aforementioned posts and was a minor when the CSM was established in 1991.

In every civilized democratic country of the world, when a convicted felon is sentenced to Jail, they forfeit thier rights
These leaders who have Looted away huge sums of money from poorest of the poor citizens of the country, money laundering thru banks and illegal assets & not pay taxes in Pakistan,
Why is Pakistan Govt offering them special treatment with air-conditioned Jails and home cooked meals and servants and special VIP & hospitals and special Privileges!!!
This whole process of Pakistan legal system is a sham, all this illegal activity need to be stopped immediately, Pakistan will never rise out of the dust bowl and the quick sand that it is now !!! while India is just sitting and waiting to see when Pakistan will fall apart from within without having to fight a war!!!
I am ashamed to read all this every day these illegal practices of law & courts and Justices, which are blatantly allowing inequality in law to exist and be practiced in Pakistan’s Judicial system!!!Recommend
