Fire guts stalls in H-9 Sunday Bazaar

Over 300 stalls were gutted

ISLAMABAD: Over 300 stalls were gutted in an early morning blaze in Secotr H-9 Sunday Bazaar at Peshawar Mor. The fire which erupted at around 3:50am charred stalls of carpet, shoes and other used items.

A dozen fire tenders rushed to the spot and firefighters douzed the blaze while Rescue 1122 and Quick Response Force were also present at the scene trying to prevent the fire from spreading further. Islamabad DC Hamza Shafqaat was on the scene and tweeted: “Alhamdolillah it (fire) was controlled within one hour. I have met the affectees and will take appropriate measures to make this Bazar have foolproof arrangements to prevent any such incident in future.” He has ordered an inquiry into recurrent incidents of fire in the market. Earlier, a blaze had swept through the same Sunday Bazaar in July this year.
