PESHAWAR: Ever since holding the reins of the provincial presidency of the Awami National Party, Aimal Wali Khan has stirred a storm in the organisation by suspending the basic membership of several leaders after charges of the grouping in the party on central and provincial level.

Renowned lawyer and centre leaders included Advocate Abdul Latif Afridi, former senator of the party Afrsaib Khattak and MNA Bushra Gohar have already faced the music and now ANP has rescinded Senator Sitara Ayaz’s party membership on charges of violating the party’s discipline.

According to a statement issued from the Bacha Khan Markaz, Senator Sitara Ayaz has been accused of organising and promoting grouping in the party and participating in anti-party activities due to which provincial president Aimal Wali Khan issued her show-cause notice.

The provincial president gave Senator Sitara Ayaz a personal hearing in the presence of other cabinet members, but the senator could not provide satisfactory answers to the provincial president and other cabinet members, the statement said.

So in the light of the above statements the provincial president revoked Senator Sitara Ayaz party membership under Article 27 Section 1 of the party constitution, discipline and in the larger interest of the party after which she has no relationship with the party, said the statement.

While commenting on the news Senator  Ayaz said that she got to know the news through media and was awaiting the decision from the ANP provincial office and declined to comment on the decision as it would be premature to say anything with regard or give version on the decision of the provincial president.

“The allegations were vague, unclear and so doubtful that I was unable to answer the questions clearly and would react to the questions when he gets the details replies of the party,” she said.
