The former three-time prime minister, who has been diagnosed with a rare immune disorder ITP, is expected to be shifted to the Sharif Medical City Hospital within the next few days, sources said.
Nawaz is serving a seven-year jail-term in the Al-Azizia corruption reference. However, he has been granted bail by both the Lahore High Court and the Islamabad High Court on medical grounds.
According to sources, paperwork for Nawaz’s bail would be completed within the next few days before he is shifted to the hospital in Raiwind which had been built by the Sharif family.
Highly credible sources told The Express Tribune that different medical tests of Nawaz, including ECGs, have come out normal. He had suffered a minor heart attack two days ago, but medics say that it didn’t cause any damage to the heart.
Nawaz’s platelet counts are 45,000 per microliter of blood, which shows a marked improvement, sources said.
The sources said the medics treating Nawaz are also satisfied with his blood pressure and blood sugar levels. However, the medical board has advised the family to reduce visits so that the ailing politician could have proper rest to recuperate.
The board has also advised Maryam Nawaz and Shehbaz Sharif to stop PML-N leaders and other politicians from meeting Nawaz.
Sources say that Nawaz has thanked all members of the medical board for treating him in the best possible way. However, the ailing politician said that he would not go abroad for treatment.
