CTD official killed in encounter with militants in DI Khan

Local police encircled the area fearing the presence of more militants

DI KHAN: An official of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) was gunned down while another was injured when they were shot on by the inmates of a house they raided within the remits of the Purwa police station late on Tuesday evening.

Dera Ismail Khan police said that they received a tip that a militant had returned home in the Ramak area of the district.

Hoping to apprehend him, a CTD team planned to raid his home at around midnight.

However, the police and the suspected militants exchanged heavy fire during which Havaldar Noor Wali Shah embraced martyrdom while Constable Jehangir suffered critical injuries.

Local police encircled the area fearing the presence of more militants. The operation continued for hours.

However, the police did not share any information regarding the number of militants involved.
