Protest democratic right of every citizen, says ANP leader

Achakzai asserts people not happy with the internal and external policies of the govt

QUETTA: Confirming to support Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F’s) Azadi march, Awami National Party (ANP) provincial president Asghar Khan Achakzai has said that lodging protest was the democratic right of every citizen and that a meeting of think tank would be held on October 25 in which whatever decision is taken by the party leadership would be accepted.

Addressing a presser at Quetta Press Club, Achakzai lamented the lack of job opportunities in Balochistan and warned that ANP would not remain silent on the issue.

The provincial president noted that ANP well understood the fact that the country was going through a dangerous situation.

He maintained that people were not happy with the internal and external policies of the government.

“The economy of the country is in a bad shape and the value of rupee is declining. The federal government is interfering in the affairs of Balochistan and the provincial government is being run by the centre. We will not tolerate any meddling over the sovereignty of the province” he said.

“Federal government is making coastal highway part of federation over which we have reservations,” he added.

Talking about the harassment issue at the University of Balochistan, Achakzai said that the government should investigate the matter fairly. He said he would meet the students of the varsity.

Commenting on the Kashmir issue, the ANP leader said that the long-standing dispute should be resolved through dialogue and the decision should be taken according to the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
