LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court chief justice issued a notice to the federal government for August 2 in an application seeking suspension of execution of a death sentence for Indian spy Sarbjit Singh. Singh’s counsel, Advocate Awais Sheikh, submitted that his client’s execution should be suspended till a decision was made in an appeal lying pending with the president. Sheikh also sought court’s permission to become a party in another petition against a possible grant of presidential pardon to Singh.
