Karachi ATC adjourns hearing on petitioner’s request

Case is pertaining to anti-state slogans, terrorism and attack on media house

KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court accepted on Saturday the petitioner's request to adjourn the hearing of the case pertaining to anti-state slogans, terrorism and attack on media house.

Dr Farooq Sattar, Amir Khan, Kunwar Naveed Jamil, Qamar Mansoor, Gulfaraz Khattak and others appeared before the court.

Petitioner Abdul Ghaffar requested that the hearing be adjourned.

He informed the court that he has been deployed on duty for the security of Hazrat Imam Ali's (RA) Chehlum and is not prepared to record his statement and for the cross-examination after.

The court accepted his request and adjourned the hearing till November 9.

The petitioner was the SHO of Artillery Maidan Police Station at the time of the incident.

Two cases have been registered against the accused at the police station on behalf of the state.

A man was killed and several others were injured allegedly by MQM workers on August 22, 2016.
