Experts raise alarm over growing suicide trend in Pakistan

Easy access to dangerous chemicals and pesticides is another factor of suicide which can be reduced by little exercise

LAHORE: Post Graduate Medical Institute Principal Dr Sardar Mohammad Alfareed Zafar has said our religious teachings do not allow us to end our life and with a view of medical treatment mental and psychiatric health must be focused to discourage suicide incident in the society.

He expressed these views in an awareness walk and educational programme held at the Lahore General Hospital under the aegis of Mental and Psychiatric Department.

He said such measures should be adopted which can avoid such incidents and people should not confront for killing themselves.

Expressing his views, Dr Altaf Qadir Khan said, unfortunately, the trend of suicide was increasing and especially the young generation is more in this trend.

He said easy access to dangerous chemicals and pesticides is another factor of suicide which can be reduced by little exercise.
