PHC tells govt to release doctors

Directs the FIA director general to conduct inquiry

PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) has directed the provincial government to release all the doctors, paramedics detained under 3MPO on interim bail simply against two sureties of Rs50,000 and submission of bond of good conduct. A two-member bench consisted of the Justice Waqar Ahmed Seth and Justice Abdul Shakoor was hearing the case of the arrest of doctors and paramedics on Friday. The court has directed the FIA director general to conduct inquiry, to record plea of doctor and paramedics and to fix the responsibility against administration and police regarding their violation upon the doctor and paramedics and their male treatment with the civil servants. The two members bench has resumed the hearing today of the use of force against the doctors and paramedic association, the lawyer of the applicants Abdul Latif Advocate told the court that provincial government has brought drastic changes into the health sector and prices of the services at public hospital has been increased many fold. PHC chief justice showed concern over manhandling of doctors at the Lady Reading Hospital and also demanded that those who had issued direction of use of force against the doctors should be held responsible and fixed the responsibility on them.
