In reaction to the telephone lines of Nine Zero being disconnected, MQM held an emergency conference at 1am today, wherein Anees Qaim Khani, flanked by other senior leaders such as Dr Farooq Sattar, Mustafa Kamal and recent MQM revert, Aamir Khan, addressed a large congregation of workers along with media personnel.
In a fiery address, he reiterated that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was conspiring against MQM for rejecting the Commisionerate system. He said that the PPP was conspiring an ‘operation’ against the MQM and had started by disconnecting the phones lines initially.
The MQM claimed that senior PPP leader and former Sindh Home Minister, Zulfiqar Mirza, had met up with MQM (Haqiqi) leader Afaq Ahmed in prison, on Saturday, to hatch a plan against them, using People’s Aman Committee members to attack them.
At this point, Qaim Khani acknowledged the media for uncovering this plot and reporting it which led the conspirators to go on the backfoot. He said that people should determine who was lying and who was speaking the truth, referring to Mirza admitting to having contacts with Afaq Ahmed while on the other hand PPP denied having any contacts with him.
Qaim Khani, maintaining a fiery tone, reminded PPP that it wasn’t 1992 and 2011, instead, warning them and President Zardari to refrain from conspiring against the MQM, since any misadventure against them would constitute as action against Sindh and Pakistan, in turn, hence instigating a reaction ‘beyond imagination’ from MQM.
Workers chanted slogans against the PPP during the press conference, chanting slogans such as 'laathi goli ki sarkar nahi chalegi' and ‘qaid ke hukum par jaan bhi qurban’.
Anees said that on one hand the Sindh government said that lines werent disconnected while on the other hand Federal Interior Minister, Rehman Malik said that they were resumed on his order to PTCL. He said that the party is no more the ‘Mohajhir’ Qaumi Movement of 1992 and is now the ‘Muttahida’ movement, reiterating that any plan against them would be considered a plan to break Sindh apart from Pakistan. At this point, he referred to MQM as being ‘Sons of Sindh’ and not to pin them up against the wall or there will be serious repurcussions.
He appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice of tonight’s actions and uncover the conspiracy. Towards the end he strongly urged President Zardari to instruct his party workers and leaders to not conspire against MQM as well as stop using PAC members against them, instead sort out matters in the assemblies or else ‘out in the open’ if that is what the PPP eventually wanted.

please people understand this big picture & conspiracy against pakistan, im no where a worker or supporter of MQM but u cant deny that MQM is by far the most honest political party in pakistan and 1000 times better than any party.... People's Party blocked their telephone lines in 1992 also and than they did that infamous operation against MQM Workers... please think about it for a second.. media was not free at that time.. there was only 1 channel "PTV" and it was the government's channel and PPP was in govt.. thats why MQM still have that black image...
They will bring Revolution lol This isn't revolution, this is 'you mess with us, we'll mess with you'
Your country is slowly being flushed into the toilet and your still ignore everything to score a few political jabs --- no wonder your considered a borderline failed state. Time to wake up before it's too late.
i think both parties are at fault.....this fight is about who will collect the bhatta in Karachi.....MQM does have some legitimate support in karachi but most of their support comes out of fear........fear that MQM will punish them if they vote for someone else or the fear the PPP will alienate the muhajar vote
Goverment shouldn't expect MQM to laydown weapons until there are assurances from the army that every other militant group will also lay down the weapons. unilateral action by any one group would be a suicide.
Given all that i am still heart broken over killing of poor bus drivers and bystandards by MQM, ANP and PPP and God knows who else...... if they are mad then target the known members of the other party and leave the regular people alone.
MQM must respond the way they are doing.. file petitions, take up issues in the assembly and senate.. keep working on ground to spread their manifesto. Slow & Steady Wins the Race... It's gradual but surely would result may be a couple decade down the line when people of Pakistan would (EXPECTED) be a little more literate and sensible to see the course of history and analyze.
The whole country has commissionrate system only karachi got now after long eight gifted years of mush dictator then why MQM crying. they made anough allready .
@ Pakistani If those same principles are against the benefit of people what principled democracy are you talking about bro? Holding to your principles is obviously appreciated but what if these principles benefit only the ruling elite?
This is very ugly on part of PPP.
Need of the day is to do away with THIS Sham democracy in Sindh , where a fistful of Waderas like Zulfiqar Mirza , Sharjeel Memon and compadres , who do not belong to Karachi , imposing their medieval corrupt ruling system upon Karachi , just to have a fragile control as long as possible to maximize " the benefits to its optimum '' .
90 % of the elected represenatatives of Karachi should be heard and thy cannot be wrong ! That is democracy , I presume .
Mr.Zardari need to savvy that trying to corner MQM or its vote bank un-democratically , will result in something so ominous , that it would be difficult for him to fathom what really happened .
@fus: Completely agree with you. Definitely things were much better. This statement that 'a party is the creation of the army' or 'a party co-operated with the army' has now become very rustic and stale. It has definitely become a cliche.
Every organization has 'mindless' people and 'mindful' people. It's now time to observe rather than just look and opine. It is now imperative for Pakistanis to no more vote on 'sympathies' but on hard facts and cold logic. Salams brother.
@ Nadeem: You call what we have a democracy? Seriously?
@Nadeem Ahmed: Your opinion is hopelessly out of line with what has been going on for three years in Sindh. Please read the daylight as daylight and the nighttime as nighttime. Salaams to you my brother.
It is PPP VS MQM for the ownership of Karachi. Can anyone please remind them that Karachi is not just a piece of Land to contend for, it is city of 16 Million souls. Each one sacred to God and to Mankind.
Stop this Carnage for fear of God!
Sadly MQM has been forced to seek Courts intervention.. the same courts that they abused, not so long ago. Refusing Chief Justice admission into "Their City".
Absolute Ownership Resides with The One and Only Almighty.. the rest shall all perish.
Crush the Terrorist , as N.Sharif , new friend of MQM , DID , in old days , according to Constitution . 2- Commissionary System ; is also , OK , as it was peace in those days .
Why MQM is crying so much for the telephone lines? Who on earth nowadays use landlines.
@fus: But should you support a dictator or not is a matter of principle. And MQM's politics is not based on principles but interests.
It's high time..and there should be a revolution.. witnessing all this it's better to demolish democracy..cause we ain't worth it... Me and many other now do pray and want a leader who may be a dictator but who could lead our country towards progress and betterment and save us from shame and disrespect we are facing because of these so called educated illiterate politicians who does not even know how to communicate..wealth can't surely but manners and decency, dignity and respect and brains...God Bless Pakistan..God Bless Our Nation!! It's a humble request please stand up against these people..get rid of these stupid colorful party flags they are simply hideous..we only respect our country flag and laugh on these so called adult brainless people who should be ashamed of themselves and if they have any little self-respect left in them should resign..else if they are so patriotic than they should call there children and families to Pakistan and let them live like the way we do..like the common respectful citizen..rather than being a scary cat and living in other countries and no matter what they do or spend they will still be the third grade citizen lollz ignorant souls..I challenge these party leaders to reveal their wealth and if they love Pakistan so much than show some self-respect and stop taking rather asking for money from other countries..and if so brave stop moving around with zillion guards...Good for nothing creatures! We Need Revolution ASAP!!!
Nadeem....even when MQM supported a dictator...that time was 1000 times better then what we are witnessing today...but I guess you like may others have become blind due to your hatred for MQM .
When MQM will stop conspiring against democracy and people of Pakistan?
The first and the main duty a government has is to remain just and maintain order and what we witness right now is that they failed miserably here. There's is an old adage that suggests that "it's not rebels that make trouble, but trouble that makes rebels." What we see is PPP kicking up trouble and thus forcing rebellion here ---- for this is what it amount to when you try to sppress a voice of a people ---- and MQM is voice of the people who voted 25 MNAs from it to represent them in the National Assembly of Pakistan. Some one, with a bit of gray matter, must remind these fools that if they don't let peaceful revolution come then be prepared for the eventuality of a violent one. Good people must come forward and call a spade a spade before it's too late. Speak up against this unjust rule of some oligarch and stop them from trampling the will of a people, if good people keep silent now and do nothing this alone would make it possible for evil to triumph.
This is a 'gangwar',sadly condoned by both parties..
Tit for tat!
drums are ringing ever so closer for martial law!.. insane bloodshed army must step in
