Controller Sasoli ponders on the role of teachers in the due process

QUETTA: Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BBISE) Quetta Controller Abdul Nabi Sasoli has said measures were being taken to improve quality of education.

“Education is one of the key resources for development - without knowledge, the progress of any society is impossible,” he said while talking to reporters on Tuesday.

In this regard, the controller said the role of teachers was significant. "Efforts must be done to provide all facilities to the students in educational institutions for increasing their capabilities for the interest of the country, including our province," he added.

Sasoli said: “We are focusing on educational institutions to enhance capacity of teachers so that students would not think about cheating during examinations.”

He also said, “Efforts are afoot to ensure attendance of teachers and students in educational institution in remote areas of the province so that we can provide a better future to the upcoming generation."

Last month, Balochistan Minister for Communication and Works Arif Jan Muhammad Hassani said as many as 100 primary schools would be furnished in Chagai to ensure quality of education.

Moreover, the process of upgrading the school curriculum is also underway across the province in accordance with modern needs. “After the 18th Constitutional Amendment, provinces can make necessary changes to improve basic education infrastructure,” Adviser Muhammad Khan Lehri had said during a meeting of the National Curriculum Council on September 24.

The meeting was chaired by the Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood. Provincial ministers from all the provinces and top officials were present on the occasion.

Lehri said an upgrade of the school curriculum according to the modern requirements remains a priority of the provincial government, hence several committees under the supervision of education secretary are functioning for the purpose.

The federal minister had called for all the ministers to speed up the up-gradation of the syllabus. He had directed the provincial minister for education to keep the federal government informed about the progress regarding the implementation of plans.

“The uniform curriculum would be introduced not only in government schools, but also in private institutions and seminaries,” said Mehmood.
