Bridal couture was in full swing last week as some of Pakistan's most celebrated designers showcased their latest festive wear as at the PFDC Paris L’Oreal Bridal Week (PLBW) 2019.
From Sania Maskatiya and Saira Shakira bringing exquisite pastels to full bloom to HSY exuding regal vibes in his accurately-named Empire collection, there was some definite hits to take inspiration from for the upcoming winter wedding season.
Not only that but some of our favourite celebrities shone like the stars on the runway as well. Think Mawra Hocane, Maya Ali and Mansha Pasha lighting up the ramp in some bespoke ensembles and we couldn't get enough. Let's take a look at some of the highlights of the PLBW weekend.
Bloom bright with Sania Maskatiya and Saira Shakira

Her bridal collection boasted the perfect fusion of soft pastels and modern silhouettes, while not forgetting traditional her notes. The collection, DILARA, did not disappoint with art work in zardozi and resham accompanying crushed lehengas, peshwases and ghararas.

The Kali – A Bloom collection incorporated an amalgamation of a variety of crafts and ornamentation techniques using sequins, elaborate hand embroideries and 3D embellishments. We can't forget the intricate detailing through the use of crystals, pearls, gota and sequins in pastel hues against contrasting bright colours. Keep an eye on this collection because we think these kind of styles will be on high trend this wedding season.
Starfall with Mawra Hocane
PHOTO: Faisal Farooqui/DragonFlyDesigner duo Tayab and Moazzam managed to impress onlookers with their glistening and innovative designs on the runway. Of course, their showstopper was none other than Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 star Mawra Hocane. The actor closed the show looking like an actual star in an embellished silver gown which was heavily encrusted with sparkling crystals. We love the flattering neckline and her braid, which exudes soft femininity.

Dare to be different with The House of Kamiar Rokni
PHOTO: Faisal Farooqui/DragonFlyThe designer brand certainly shook bridal couture up and we adore it for that. Their Golestan collection was uber modern but in all the right ways. Think bright, vibrant and festive as rich fabrics like tissue nets, velvet and hand woven silk stood out. A modern take on the old-fashioned gharara teamed with a short shirt took the cake and is definitely a piece to take inspiration from.
Royal vibes with Mansha Pasha
PHOTO: Faisal Farooqui/DragonFlySonia Azhar's Timeless Pieces looked stunning on Laal Kabootar starlet Mansha Pasha. The red and gold heavily embroidered show-stopping lehenga and halter blouse looked super striking. Warrior queen vibes, anyone?
Euphoric empress with Maya Ali and Mehreen Syed
PHOTO: Faisal Farooqui/DragonFlyHSY cast a spell with Empire, drawing inspiration from four influential empires – Ottoman, Mughal, French Polynesian and Russian. The designer travelled all year round in search of unique motifs and incorporated them with age-old embroidery techniques using dhaga, reshamkora and naqshikada. Mehreen Syed walked the ramp in a perfectly regal deep red ensemble with gold dhaga and resham embroidery paired with a contrasting burnt orange block-printed shawl finished with a chunky gold border.
PHOTO: Shafiq Malik/ExpressMeanwhile, Maya Ali simply stunned in MNR Design Studio, whose collection ChaharBagh brought a Punjabi touch to the runway. Mohsin Naveed Ranjha attempted to pay an ode to Islamic art and architecture through his work.
Maya donned a double layered deep red lehenga while her Parey Hut Love co-star, Sheheryar Munawar, looked dapper in a matching deep red kurta with straight pants and a short embroidered full sleeves jacket.
