QUETTA: Balochistan National Party (Mengal) senior leader and candidate of NA-265 Nawabzada Lashkari Raisani has said that he awaits the next step of his rival candidate Qasim Khan Suri after the verdict of the election tribunal of the Balochistan High Court (BHC). If the decision is taken to the Supreme Court, it will be defended, he added.

"We have faith in the Supreme Court that it will give a decision based on justice and will uphold the verdict of the election tribunal,” Raisani said on Sunday.

Reiterating reservations over the conduct of elections, he said that even before the day of general elections arrived grievances existed all along. A free and fair election is a responsibility of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) along with ensuring a suitable environment for the polls, he added.

"On the election day, a bomb blast killed most of my political workers and left several injured in my constituency PB 31. In such a situation how can we expect voters to come out of their homes to cast votes,” Raisani questioned. “Though I lost the election on PB 31 by just a margin of 400 votes, we want justice for the martyrs,” he continued.

Raisani said he received many votes during the election as per the records checked, but after finding the results he opted to challenge the polls in the election tribunal. The decision, however, was not given in favour, he manintained. “We are hoping that the case will be heard in the Supreme Court and I will get justice on the other constituency as well.”
