PESHAWAR: At least six people were killed while seven others sustained injuries on Saturday as gunmen opened fire on a passenger van in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa's (K-P) Hangu district.

Police said the incident took place in Zargari area where unidentified assailants showered the van with bullets when it was en route to Shamsha Din Banda from Hangu.

Initial inquiry suggested that the incident was a result of a feud between two groups: Shah Momin allegedly killed the members of Jan Akbar group, officials said.

Police and rescue services reached the site and shifted the bodies and the injured to hospital.

A one-year-old infant and a woman are among the injured, officials said, adding that more casualties were feared due to the critical nature of injuries to the victims.

The police have registered a case and initiated investigation.
