The residents of the area had reportedly complained that the factory was burning coal to make raw iron which caused pollution. The residents claimed that a number of eyes, skin, liver and respiratory diseases had broken out in the area, especially among children.
SEPA officials, led by Deputy Director Waris Gabol, carried out a raid on Friday and concluded that environmental laws were being flouted.
