To promote the role of pharmacists in safeguarding patients’ safety through improving the use of medicines and reducing medication related errors, the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) took out a rally to mark World Pharmacist Day on Wednesday.

This year’s theme is ‘Safe and effective medicines for all’. The rally was organised by the Department of Pharmacy at UAF and was led by Faculty of Veterinary Sciences Acting Dean Dr Tariq Javed.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Javed said that pharmacists have the responsibility of safeguarding the health of the people.

“In our society, using medicines without a doctor’s prescription has become normal, which is causing hazardous effects on people’s lives,” he said.

Dr Javed added that there is a need to create awareness among citizens so that they avoid self-medicating.
