LAHORE: In response to the recent cases of child sexual abuse and abduction, the Punjab Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) has decided to establish committees at a union council level.

Committees will be formed and initiated from Kasur district where citizens will be provided awareness on how to protect their children. This decision was taken after cases involving child sexual abuse surfaced in Kasur and Faisalabad.

CPWB Chairperson Sara Ahmed stated that the bureau was establishing committees at a union council level under the directives issued by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar. “Steps are being taken to prevent such incidents in the province,” she added.

Ahmed maintained that an awareness campaign has also been launched in the province in this regard.
