CHITRAL: Nearly a month after the local government system in the province completed its tenure, the provincial chief executive on Friday promised that elections for new local body system will be held soon, though he stopped short of defining the exact parameters of that period.

This was announced by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan during a day-long visit to the Chitral valley on Friday. During his visit, he inaugurated work on the 4.2 Megawatt (MW) Reshun Hydel Power Project — which has been rebuilt after it was destroyed during the 2015 floods. The project is expected to be completed by June 2020 at an estimated cost of Rs806 million and will benefit approximately 16,000 residents.
