KARACHI: Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani has taken notice of the rising incidence of dengue cases in the city and ordered the deputy commissioners and other officials to launch an awareness campaign for the prevention of the viral disease and its timely treatment.

The decision was taken in a meeting, headed by Commissioner Shallwani on Thursday, to review the ongoing fumigation drive.

Prevention and Control Programme for Dengue in Sindh’s programme manager, Dr Mahmood Iqbal Memon, briefed the commissioner about the cases reported in the city during the current year. According to Memon, 641 cases have been reported in all six districts of the city in the current month.
