Eighth grader says had gone with friend of her own free will

ISLAMABAD: The girl reportedly kidnapped on September 15, and safely recovered from Swat on Tuesday, says she had gone for sightseeing with her friend on her own free will, a police statement quoted her on Wednesday.

The mysterious disappearance of 14-year-old eighth-grade student from her house in Sector G-8 had created a sensation in the media.

Islamabad police, however, recovered her through prompt action. Karachi Company police registered the case number 364 under section 365 PPC on September 15, that daughter of Khalid Mehmud had been missing from her home in Sector G-8.

Islamabad IG Aamir Zulfiqar took serious notice of this incident and directed DIG (Operations) Waqar Uddin Syed to ensure the safe recovery of the girl and arrest those involved in it.

Two separate teams headed by SP (Investigation) Mustafa Tanveer and SP (Saddar) Omar Khan were constituted by him which started an investigation. These teams succeeded to recover the girl and arrest accused Zain Butt Zaman in coordination with Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and personnel of other law enforcement agencies.

During preliminary investigation, the abducted girl told police that she went along with her friend following her own will for visit and entertainment.

A police spokesperson said that although the child had gone with her own free will, soon after the information about a girl missing from Sector G-8, some elements started a campaign against Islamabad police which was condemnable. He said that those trying to vilify their own state institutions are not serving the country but trying to create unrest in the society.

Rawalpindi police on alert

Rawalpindi City Police Officer Faisal Rana has ordered preventive measures to check the incidents of kidnapping of children. Police must keep an eye over the habitual offenders involved in this crime and those released from jail in cases of kidnapping.

After the incidents of killing of children after kidnapping in Chunian, district Kasur, came to the surface, the City Police Officer, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Faisal Rana has issued strict directions in this regard.

Chunian police on Tuesday recovered the bodies of three minors, who seem to have been killed after rape.

Alerted by the threat of child abusers on the prowl, the CPO called the divisional SSP to his office and sought report of all the cases of kidnapping of children and issued directions that the accused must be arrested in the next 72 hours.

Rana said abductees must be recovered at the earliest keeping the protection of the life of the abductee as the first priority.

If nominated in cases, the accused should be arrested within the next five hours while if the accused are not nominated in a case, the suspects should be traced within the maximum time period of 24 hours.

CPO Rana said the SHO, SDPO and SP concerned will be answerable for the incident of the kidnapping of children. He directed for patrolling around schools to prevent such incidents.
