According to Hindustan Times, the ‘fartists’ will be judged on three categories – longest, loudest, and musical—and each participant will have 60 seconds to prove their worth.
Three people will be chosen as winners and will receive a cash prize ranging from INR5,000 to INR15,000.
The idea was conceived by one of the organisers, Yatin Sangoi, who one day broke wind while watching a movie with his family.
“About 25 days back I was watching a movie with my family when I farted loudly and everyone laughed. That’s when I thought if there’s a competition, I could be a winner. However, there are none in India,” he said adding that after a thorough discussion with his family and friends he decided to organise the event.
“30 years back, people used to fart freely. However, now it’s something of inhibition and is frowned upon by society,” he added.
He said that there was no specific aim behind the competition and just wants to provide a platform to those who want to break wind freely.
