The team for food safety evaluated the quality of raw material used and assessed the sanitation arrangements of the kitchen as well as the eating area of outlets at Brewery Road and its adjacent areas.
The BFA officials directed several hotel and restaurant owners to improve the quality of the food items. They also issued SOPs to the restaurants formed by the BFA.
BFA Director of Operations Nida Kazmi said that the operations department had been established to improve the quality of food items and to provide safe food to the public.
She said that such inspections were not meant to hamper business activities but to ensure that the necessary protocols were followed. “The prime purpose of these actions is to ensure people have access to clean food.”
She added that restaurateurs and business owners had so far cooperated with the authorities for which they deserved to be commended.
“The quality of several hotels, bakeries and other food outlets has improved since the setting up of the BFA and people have gained awareness regarding safe eating habits.”
