Illegal Transplants: Court extends remand by 3 days

The physical remand again extended by 3 days.

A magistrate on Tuesday again extended by three days the physical remand of the seven people allegedly involved in the illegal kidney transplant business.


The accused were handed over to the Cantt police. Investigation Officer Muhammad Shafique had produced the accused Dr Anees, Dr Mubashir, Mushtaq Ahmad, Muhammad Imran, Sagher Younis, Nadeem Fayyaz and Ali Akbar in court on Friday requesting a seven-day physical remand. He said that the police had yet to arrest Dr Sanaullah, a surgeon in General Hospital; Dr Imran Ali of Mayo Hospital, and Khursheed.

Earlier, a petition was filed by one Muhammad Riaz, who said that the accused had offered him Rs110,000 in exchange of his kidney. He said that the accused has been conducting illegal kidney transplants for over a year in Al-Faisal Town.
