Farm houses: Punjab moves to collect property tax

FAISALABAD:

The Excise and Taxation Department has evolved a strategy for recovery of property tax from owners of farm houses and bungalows and has constituted special teams to conduct a survey in order to send demand notices to the owners concerned.

For the first time in the history of Punjab, the provincial government has targeted owners of big farm houses as well as bungalows to impose property tax with rates varying according to the size of property. The tax will be paid on an annual basis and the tax rates will be revisable after every five years. Teams deputed for conducting survey in all districts of the province have been asked to complete the task within 90 days.
