Negligence in the implementation of the Muharram security plan would not be tolerated, says IGP

KARACHI: Sindh Police chief IGP Dr Kaleem Imam said on Monday that Sindh Police is on red alert until further notice. According to a spokesperson of the police, Dr Imam is personally monitoring security arrangements of the major processions during Muharram 9 and 10.

The IGP has directed the police department to ensure coordination with the central command and control centre and follow orders without delay.

He directed all SSPs, DSPs and SHOs to ensure their presence at the rallies and report their position at all times and notify of any security concerns that may arise on the wireless base. The IGP also stressed the deployment of security at all key points and briefing the command and control centre on the same. Besides, the SHOs were directed to ensure adequate arrangements for food and beverages for the deployed officers. The IGP reiterated that negligence or slackness in the implementation of the Muharram security plan would not be tolerated.
