6,000 fake liquor bottles destroyed

Some 17 warehouses were issued warning letters over poor cleanliness

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Friday destroyed some 6,000 of counterfeit liquor bottles as they continued their operation for a second day in Murree and Rawalpindi. According to a PFA spokesperson, they had also sealed two warehouses in this regard. Some 17 warehouses were also issued warning letters over poor cleanliness. PFA teams also inspected the kitchen Danes hotel on Mall Road and found cockroaches. It was also discovered that employees were working without medical or other required licenses. Further, the Agricultural Task Force seized fake agricultural chemical worth Rs200 million over the past three months in Rawalpindi. Punjab Additional Secretary Rana Ali Arshad said that as many as 10 factories manufacturing fake agricultural chemicals were sealed in the past month. He said that illegal fertilizer sellers were fined up to Rs20 million. He added that task force had introduced a new system whereby farmers can directly lodge complaints and action will be taken within 24 hours.
