Bund reinforcement: Aqil Agani bund work costs Rs579m

RATODERO: Work at the Aqil Agani bund in preparation of the monsoon rains began late, said acting governor, Nisar Khuhro on Wednesday. The Indus River has changed its flow, so these areas will not be affected by the floods. There are 70,000 cusecs of water in the river as of now. The irrigation department has been ordered to widen the bund by 35 feet. Irrigation Chief Engineer Muhammed Haroon told Khuhro that 87% of the work is complete and the remaining will be done by July 15. It is costing Rs579 million.
