LDA demolishes illegal structures

The provincial government has also constituted anti-encroachment committees in all 36 districts of the province

LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has initiated action against five illegal housing societies in the provincial capital on Wednesday. On direction of LDA Director General Muhammad Usman Moazam, LDA Director Bushra Naseer conducted an operation in Tahsil Raiwind and demolished illegal structures in Qasim Garden Haloki, Royal City Ameerpura, Ali Park and Bismillah Park. The authority has demolished the entire infrastructure of these illegal housing societies, including boundary walls, sewerage systems, site offices, green belts and other illegal structures. In order to keep a check on illegal housing societies and encroachments, the provincial government has constituted anti-encroachment committees in all 36 districts of the province to conduct operations against land-grabbers and encroachments. The deputy commissioners had been nominated as head these committees, while they also include DPO and CPO concerned, a district officer of the local government department and senior officers of development authorities. The MNAs or MPAs of the district, civil society members and notables of the area will also be included in these committees which will be responsible for planning and monitoring of operation against encroachments and land-grabbers on daily basis.
