ISLAMABAD: By introducing business reforms, Pakistan is boosting its industrial and commercial potential as the government is focusing on higher exports through tariff rationalisation, attracting trade-related investment, undertaking institutional reforms, documentation of economy and easing business regulations, said the adviser to PM on commerce.

Talking to a business delegation, Abdul Razak Dawood, the prime minister’s aide, underlined “it is imperative to enhance the industrial base for revitalisation of the economy and industrial growth.” He emphasised that expansion of the industrial base would lead to industrial growth, competitive import substitution, export enhancement, employment creation and revenue generation.

“The government is working out a policy paradigm for upward growth of the manufacturing sector in general and large-scale manufacturing (LSM) in particular,” he revealed. “For this, the government is developing an industrial policy.
