ISLAMABAD: Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry said the ministry would roll out electronic motorcycles and rickshaws across the country.

"Pakistan is among those countries which are using highest number of motorcycles," said Fawad while addressing an event at Pakistan Council of Renewable Energy Technologies (PCRET) on Saturday.

He added that electronic motorcycles and rickshaws are the future of the Pakistan's transportation system. "Soon the motorcycles and rickshaws will all go electric."

Electronic technology, the federal minister, would help decrease carbon from the environment.

"Motorcycles and rickshaws would run through chargeable batteries," he added.

Govt launches its own mineral water to cut costs

This is not the first time Fawad  has launched a new initiative since taking the reins of the ministry as a day earlier he had announced the launch the ministry's very own mineral water to slash costs at government offices.

The Pakistan Council of Research and Water Resources prepared a 500ml water bottle named “Safe Drinking Water”.

The mineral water bottles will first be used at the PM Office, President House and Parliament House, he said.
