Citizens urged to use fabric bags
Shoppers asked to avoid the use of polythene bags while shopping
LAHORE:
Turkish Albayrak Waste Management Company arranged an awareness drive in the provincial capital on Wednesday to encourage the use of eco-friendly fabric bags among citizens. The Albayrak team, along with representatives of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, distributed bags and cleanliness awareness brochures among consumers and shopkeepers. The team also requested people to avoid the use of polythene bags while shopping. The participants of the drive also planted saplings in the area. Albayrak Assistant Manager Communications Sadia Rafique said that a ban on plastic bags will not only ensure safety of human beings but also contribute to minimising environmental issues. Later, an awareness walk was also arranged on the issue.
