The minister says the spirit of brotherhood must be maintained during Muharram

LAHORE: Punjab Information and Culture Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal visited different Imambargahs on Monday. The minister visited the worship places in Zafar Colony, Sadaat Colony, Kali Kothi and other places of his constituency to review the security and other arrangements ahead of the month of Muharram. Officers from police department, LWMC, WASA, LESCO and other government departments also accompanied the minister. The minister said that the spirit of brotherhood must be maintained during Muharram and everybody will have to play their role to promote tolerance and respect. He directed that foolproof security arrangements should be made during the month. The minister directed that all government departments should work in a coordinated manner and no stone should be left unturned with regards to providing facilities to the mourners during Muharram. He added that no complaint should arise from the part of any government department in this regard. The minister further directed that before the first day of Muharram, patchwork should be completed on all the procession routes and street lights should be fully illuminated. “No litter and garbage should be seen lying anywhere.”
