OG Dota takes home the largest prize in esports ever

First time in the history of Dota 2, OG Dota has been titled champions of The International for the second time in a row and also taking home one of the largest prizes in video gaming.

An intense gaming finale amongst the best-of-five saw the European team battle it out three-to-one for the championship over Euro rivals Team Liquid.

The historic Dota 2 match was the first grand finals of The International to only feature TI finalists, featuring nine out of ten players who had already won TI in the past.

For the first time, TI had been held in Shanghai China, the TI finalists were greeted with an enthusiastic crowd.

The victory prize earned OG a record-breaking $15,603,133 an amount crowd-funded by Dota 2 fans is the largest first-place prize that is earned in an esports.

It’s about 45.5% of $34,292,599 prize pool, breaking its own event’s record of the largest prize in esports.

Coming in at second-place, Team Liquid won $4,458,038 prize which also makes all nine contenders for a repeat Aegis are now the highest-earning players in esports history.
