LAHORE:
The city district government removed illegal structures in all nine towns of the city on Wednesday, clearing some 40 kilometres of roads as the anti-encroachment drive continued. Officials of the town municipal administrations and the Lahore Development Authority (LDA), acting on instruction from the district coordination officer (DCO), tore down shops and other structures built on state land without approval. Sources in the city government said that the anti-encroachment teams lodged first information reports against encroachers in various areas. They also seized five truckloads of materials. The DCO directed the towns to monitor their areas so the encroachments don’t return.
