A man has been taken into custody for allegedly sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl in Wah Cantt area of the city, police officials said on Sunday.
Rawalpindi CPO Faisal Rana said the minor was lured by the suspect, identified as Younas, to his residence in Wah Cantt's Simon area by offering her Rs1o.
Upon receiving the report of the incident, Rana summoned Potohar SP Syed Ali and ordered the immediate arrest of the suspect.
A case was later lodged under Section 377 of the Pakistan Penal Court (PPC) at Wah Cantt police station with further investigations underway.

The victim has been shifted to hospital for medical examination, said the Rawalpindi CPO.
In a separate incident, Rana shared that the body of a kidnapped 14-year-old boy was recovered from the garrison city.
A case had been registered by the victim's father in Attock district.
The Rawalpindi CPO said the body was later handed over to his family.
Punjab has been mired in sexual assault cases with a raft of incidents emerging in the recent past.
On August 17, a couple was arrested for allegedly kidnapping, sexually abusing, blackmailing and also recording inappropriate videos of dozens of girls in Rawalpindi.
Action was taken soon after a complaint was lodged on August 3 by a victim, an MSc student of Allama Iqbal Open University.
