Leading a delegation, George visited the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) to discuss investment opportunities in the country on Thursday.
He said that the Australian government was looking for areas of opportunities where potential investment could be made and asked for the OICCI’s help in that regard.
“Australian government intends to bring its investors, particularly those based in Dubai, to Pakistan,” he said.
The delegation included Peter Linford, Australia’s Senior Trade Commissioner for South Asia, Jon Bonnar, First Secretary (Political) Australian High Commission and Bazl Khan, Australian Consul General and Karachi-based trade representative.
“The OICCI, a body of multinationals in the country, can play a significant role in increasing investment and economic growth despite the challenging times,” said OICCI President Ameena Saiyid while highlighting the OICCI’s role.
Pakistan offers excellent investment opportunities and a close liaison between the government and the investor community can make the country an investment-friendly destination, she said.
George appreciated Pakistan’s overall investment climate and the role played by OICCI members in developing the country’s economy.
