SMEDA to help set up stitching units

SCCI president says project would help develop the textile industry on modern lines

SIALKOT: The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (Smeda) has announced the establishment of 1,000 stitching units in big industrial cities of the country including Karachi, Lahore, Sialkot and Faisalabad. The move was aimed at boosting and developing the textile industry, senior Smeda officials stated while addressing participants of an awareness seminar held at the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on Thursday. SCCI President Khawaja Masud Akhtar presided over the event. The officials added that Smeda would provide advanced machinery to the owners of industrial stitching units in active collaboration with local industrialists belonging to the textile industry. Speaking on the occasion, SCCI President Akhtar said the project would help develop the textile industry on modern lines.
