PESHAWAR: The government would facilitate the business community of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) in order to promote industrialisation, economic prosperity and development of the province, announced Adviser to Prime Minister on Institutional Reforms Dr Ishrat Husain.

Speaking at a seminar titled “Investment Opportunities in K-P: Driving Sustainable Development in the Province” at the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Husain reiterated the government’s resolve to support the private sector.

Also speaking at the seminar, German Ambassador to Pakistan Bernhard Schlagheck said despite security and other challenges, there was immense potential in different sectors in K-P, which had not been tapped fully.

The ambassador praised efforts of the SCCI while keeping in view the promotion of industrialisation and economic revitalisation in K-P.

He highlighted the diverse potential present in various sectors and urged both local and foreign investors to invest in the province.

Senator Nauman Wazir said K-P was producing low-cost electricity but consumers were charged high tariffs, adding that consumers in the province would soon receive electricity at a rate of Rs10 per unit.
