Govt to rebuild dilapidated schools

The already decaying school buildings were further weakened by recent rains increasing fears of crumbling down

RAWALPINDI: The district administration has ordered reconstruction of some 49 dilapidated schools.

The already decaying buildings of these schools were further weakened by recent rains increasing fears of crumbling down. In order to avoid a mishap of any portion of building falling in students or teachers, the government has decided to demolish and rebuild these run-down structures.

While chairing a meeting of education department, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhamamd Ali Randhawa has also directed the education department to repair old buildings which were still in a good condition. He further instructed provision of clean water and other facilities including electricity, toilets and furniture.

He added that teamwork was essential for better results while he also ordered to prepare a Google sheet where data could be uploaded on daily basis. He said through this, everybody could see the progress and it could be upgraded with time.

The meeting was attended by Additional DC Headquarters, Saima Younis, Additional DC Finance and Planning Maliha Jamal, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Gujjar Khan and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Education Azam Kashif.
