LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar inaugurated the monsoon tree plantation campaign in Khudpur, Manga Mandi. Every person should plant two saplings on the occasion of ‘Plant for Pakistan Day,’ he said.
The chief minister, while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the campaign, announced to name the place allocated for tree plantation after Kashmir Park. “We express complete solidarity with the Kashmiri people who are facing brutalities in Indian-held Kashmir.”
He added that the provincial government has approved the summary of a ban on using polythene bags which will soon be implemented after the approval of the next cabinet meeting.
He briefed that the target of increasing forest areas will be achieved in the next four years. “The tree plantation project will prove to be a game-changer in the environmental history of the country.”
He further said that plantation of trees is among the top priorities of the incumbent government. “Government and civil society give due importance to a plantation. Billions of rupees have been allocated for protecting the forests and plantation.”
He claimed that a record 420 million saplings will be planted for the first time in the history of Pakistan. “Saplings will be planted in government, private and defence lands in the province. Thousands of acres of land have been retrieved and are being given to government institutions.”
Advisor to the Prime Minister Malik Ameen Aslam said that the CM is serving the people of the province in an active manner and his role for the success of a clean and green Pakistan is very vibrant. He appealed to the people that every citizen should plant one sapling for Pakistan and one for Kashmir. He briefed that the ministry has received a grant of Rs24 billion during the year for reducing environmental pollution.
