Rizwan Beyg, Sahir Ali Bagga to be conferred with civil awards

The ceremony will take place on Pakistan Day 2020

On August 14, President Dr Arif Alvi approved the conferment of the Pakistan Civil Award for 116 individuals, from within the country as well as some foreign nationals in recognition of their excellence in their respective fields, a press release stated.

Iconic fashion designer Rizwan Beyg is set to receive the  Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, the highest civilian award in Pakistan. This is for all his significant efforts in advancing the fashion industry, from pulling off unforgettable fashion shows and representing the country on an international level to designing a dress for late Princess Diana.

The award will be the fourth-highest prize given to any civilian in Pakistan. Beyg, however, has not made any official statement yet.

A surging name in Pakistan’s entertainment industry, singer-composer Sahir Ali Bagga will be recognised for his services too.

Bagga has numerous film and television scores to his credit with some of his most prominent works for cinema being Zinda Bhaag, Dukhtar, Maalik, Jawani Phir Nahi Aani and many more.

Other recipients include the late Fehmida Riaz and singer Sanam Marvi.

The investiture ceremony will take place on Pakistan Day, March 23, 2020, according to a press release issued by the Cabinet Secretariat.
