People of twin cities ready for Independence Day

RAWALPINDI: All preparations for celebrating 72nd Independence as solidarity day with Kashmiris day have been completed.

The day would start with firing of 21-gun salute after Fajr prayers. The streets and roads across the country have been filled with flags of Pakistan while this is first time in the history that flags of AJK would also be hoisted along with national flag. Protesting banners inscribed with slogans against Indian cruelty and oppression has been hanged on roads and streets.

Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) have decorated Committee Chowk underpass with green and white lights. A number of spots have been installed with huge portraits of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Liaquat Ali Khan, Allama Iqbal etc and other heroes of Independence struggle.

Political, religious and different organizations will organize rallies against Indian oppression and to express solidarity with Kashmiri brethren. The rallies will also focus scrapping of Article 370 from Indian constitution which granted special status to Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).

The educational institutions will also organize program in line with Independence Day in which different plays and dramas will be staged.

Commissioner's Office, Adiala Jail, Railway Station, , High Court Bar, Education Board Rawalpindi would also organize functions and ceremonies in connection with the day.

Preparations to mark the Independence Day of Pakistan in a befitting manner on August 14 are in full swing here.

The printers and makers of buntings, flags, banners and badges are fully engaged in their business. The preparations are at its peak and the citizens are getting ready to celebrate the Independence Day with great enthusiasm as well as national zeal.

The most enthusiastic children who are busy collecting stickers, badges and also beautifying their bicycles with special stickers inscribed with messages of Independence Day.

Stalls selling buntings, flags, badges and other items were doing roaring business in markets of Tench Bhatta, Lalkurti, Saddar, Moti, Raja and Urdu Bazaars, Benazir Bhutto Road, Bunni Market, Satellite Town, Sadiqabad and other areas of the city. Youngsters are very enthusiastic and ready to celebrate the day in proper manners.
